Our Farming Heritage: tools and equipment of days long gone.

Introduction:

Our Farming Heritage is a resource which is available on-line and as a mobile museum which can be brought to your school, village hall, show or society meeting.

It is a privately owned collection which represents the tools and equipment typically used on a small upland farm in days now long gone.

The collection is called:

The Percy Jones Collection and honours the life and work of a Welsh hill farmer from the area of Mid Wales.

The collection is available throughout the counties of Wales and the Welsh/English borderlands where the items have an equal resonance and history.

If you would like to contact the project to discuss a possible display or talk in your area or to make enquiry relating to old tools, equipment and farming practise please e mail to:

Philosophy:  The Percy Jones Collection exists to honour the toil and tribulations of those hardy hill farmers who shaped the landscape we now enjoy.  By preserving the tools and artefacts of that life, spent producing food and surplus in the harshest of conditions, future generations can understand that part of Our Farming Heritage.  Seeing and handling the tools, looking at the old photographs and hearing the stories secured in the Oral History element of the project, conjures a sense of those soon to be forgotten days of Welsh upland farming.
